Trent Barton Routes & Times Update

TWICE AS MANY X38s and NEW SUNDAY TIMETABLE
From Sunday March 25th there’ll be a brand new half-hourly SUNDAY timetable between Burton and Derby on the direct X38 route – AND twice as many weekday buses: that’s every 15 minutes instead of half-hourly.

But sorry about the new buses
Our manufacturer, Optare of Leeds, has been unable to deliver the new X38 buses to the promised date.  We are very disappointed, and although the matter is entirely out of our hands, we are sorry that these exciting new buses will not be on the X38 right from the start.
This won’t affect anything else; we will still introduce the new Sunday service and extended weekday timetable.  We hope that the new buses will be in place before Easter.

6.1 Back to normal
The road has now re-opened at Blackbrook (just a set of temporary lights there now) so 6.1 has returned to its full normal route between Belper and Cowers Lane.  Thanks for bearing with us – and thank you County Council for helping keep the route going.

Bus 22
Nottingham – Tollerton – Cotgrave – Cropwell Bishop – Vale of Belvoir

Changes from Tuesday 29 May 2007

This route has long been supported by Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire County Councils.

However, Leicestershire have now withdrawn their financial support.

This means that the 22 will no longer be running to Stathern, Redmile, Plungar and Harby; its furthest point in the Vale will be Granby, via Langar.

The new timetable  starts on Tuesday May 29th – after the Bank Holiday, and it can be viewed by clicking here.  You will note that we will be reinstating the 22 to run through to Friar Lane in Nottingham at all but the very busiest times of day.

Keyworth Connection

Changes from Monday 6 May 2007 – and looking ahead…

If you’ve been in touch with concerns over our morning rush-hour timetable – thanks; and we are sorry.  The concerns are justified – we can no longer cope in the traffic – particularly at Wheatcroft’s Island, which is getting worse.  Without bus priorities our options are limited.  To provide the extra time and stay ahead of the jams we will be making all of our early morning departures up to ten minutes earlier on Mondays to Fridays.

Click here to view the new timetable.

Looking ahead – Melton Road will be closed coming out of the City for a fortnight from May 12th – a diversion will be in place.

Then in August we’ll be updating the Keyworth Connection buses – more seats, much more modern inside – and a very different look for the outside too!

BUS 241 Clay Cross – Mansfield
Evening contract to finish

We are sorry to report that our contract from Derbyshire County Council to run the extra evening buses on the 241 route will come to an end after operation on SATURDAY 24 March 2007.

This means that from Monday 26 March, the last 241 from Mansfield to Clay Cross will be at 6pm, and the last 241 from Clay Cross will be at 7pm.

ZigZag annual price review – and new conditions

ZigZag will be £4.20 from Sunday May 6th and ZigZag plus will be £7.80.

The £4.20 ZigZag can be used any time after 9am on all trent barton routes EXCEPT pronto and transpeak. We regret that we are also having to restrict its use again on Red Arrow coaches leaving Nottingham from 4.15pm to 5.45pm inclusive on Mondays to Fridays. The condition does NOT apply at weekends or on departures northbound from Derby or on departures from Derby to Nottingham.

rainbow 4 – SUNDAYS
A while ago we doubled the Sunday buses from Sandiacre to Nottingham.

People had been telling us that they wondered whether extra Sunday buses would increase trade; so we gave it a try!

We are glad that we did, but on this occasion it hasn’t worked out, so we will be going back to the long-standing original half hourly Sandiacre-Nottingham Sunday and Bank Holiday timetable from March 25th 2007.

The Derby-Sandiacre Sunday frequency will not change.

A52 roadworks

Lane closures on the A52 (Brian Clough Way) were introduced without any warning by the Highways Agency (thanks!) and are causing slow running for Red Arrow, Ilkeston Flyer and Spondon Flyer.

Red Arrow is also suffering through roadworks on the A52 at Bardills Island at weekends. We are doing all we can to regulate our service but there is nothing we can do about the traffic in front of us. If your journey is critical, we’d recommend allowing an extra 15 minutes or so just in case.

This is another example of roads being closed without any thought for bus passengers. This would not happen to the tram and it shouldn’t happen to buses. If you feel as we do, a letter to your MP would be very helpful.

More Roadworks coming soon in Clifton

We hear that the road between Clifton and Ruddington will close completely in April for 3 MONTHS! We are protesting to Nottinghamshire County Council in no uncertain terms – but at the moment it looks as if Ruddington Connection will have to terminate in Ruddington until the road re-opens. PLEASE make your views known to the County Council if this will affect you.

Roadworks on the A61 – affecting pronto

Planned roadworks are now taking place at Donkin Island on the A61 at Chesterfield.

These works are expected to last 26 weeks and will inevitably cause delays to the pronto buses at peak times of the day.

We will do all we can to keep the buses running on time and we can only apologise for any inconvenience. The situation is clearly beyond our control.

Nottingham Market Square Celebrations

Affecting rainbow 4 & 5, 18, 20 and 21; Cotgrave Connection, Keyworth Connection, Radcliffe lines, xprss to Bingham.

Re-opening celebrations will mean the closure of the Market Square and adjoining roads at these times:

Saturday March 24th – 6pm to around 9.30pm
Friday and Saturday 30/31 March – 6pm until after midnight (including Night Owl buses)
Sunday April 1st – 2pm until 9.30pm.

The above buses will NOT be able to use the Friar Lane picking up stops during the closure.

Instead they will run along Maid Marion way and use the bus stop at the Bridal Shop.

Sundays, the Airport and rainbow 5
Thanks to the support of East Midlands Airport, the Sunday rainbow 5 timetable now features through buses to the Airport (via Beeston, Long Eaton, Sawley, Castle Donington) – every hour all day (approx 6am to 11pm). The same timetable will run on Bank Holiday Mondays.

From the same date, we have extended the 10 minute Sunday buses on rainbow 5 (Nottingham – Chilwell section) through to 6.10pm.

New City fare
and why we don’t want you to pay it…

We held our Nottingham City Zone fare at £1.30 for a year. It is now £1.40.

But don’t pay it!

Now is the time to switch to Kangaroo - because for £2.70 you not only save on the price of two singles – you can also travel as much as you want all day on all buses (trent barton and City Transport) and trams in the City Zone – which goes out a good long way.

So don’t buy a £1.40 single on your first journey – ask for a Kangaroo!

NEW CASH SAVER FARES:
From 28 January 2007
Yellow Zone - £34
Blue Zone - £55
Red Zone - £61

See our Fares and Tickets section for further details
NB There is now no admin fee for Cash Saver ticket renewals
