| Stella Becomes the Face of Her Own Bus Route |
| |
BUS lady Stella Fox – who hit the news headlines when she trained her husband Paul to be a bus driver – is becoming the face of her very own bus route.
The rainbow 4 service between Nottingham, Sandicare and Derby is getting £1.5 million of new buses next month – and a fresh look, with Stella’s face on the inside and on the back of each bus.
As team leader of the rainbow 4 staff, Stella, from Beeston will be walking her ‘shop floor’, travelling on the buses and talking to passengers to make sure they are happy.
It was in 2003 that Stella became the envy of womankind when, as training officer, her hubby became one of her pupils after he joined the company to drive buses and she was able tell him how to drive - a story that swept across television, radio and newspapers.
Thirteen years have passed since the rainbow 4 service was launched to national acclaim, as trentbarton showed how the 40-year decline of Britain’s bus industry could be put into reverse. The ‘Rainbow Routes’ are widely acknowledged as the start of the bus industry’s quality revolution. This is the fourth fleet of brand new buses for the route since 1992.
The route witnessed the inception of the highest quality cleaning standards – with washing of buses between trips, not just at the end of the day. A panel of dedicated drivers ensured top-notch customer care which evolved into a no quibble money back guarantee, with trentbarton still the only British bus company to make such a pledge.
Stella said: “rainbow 4 has been a great success story over the years, and I am very proud to lead a tremendous team of drivers and support staff who are totally committed to their passengers. We find that a light, personal touch is really appreciated, and that’s what we always aim to deliver.
“As for the pictures inside and outside the buses, well I’m very relieved that this is the first and only time that anyone will be able to associate me with the description ‘back end of a bus’!”
The new investment in the rainbow 4 service from September 4 includes:
> doubling the number of buses on Sundays and Bank Holidays to one every 15 minutes – following extensive market research;
> boosting the Friday and Saturday evening services which already run until 3am;
> a new bargain Early Bird ticket - £28 for 28 days for Sandiacre travellers getting into Nottingham before 8am.
> fitting the buses with closed circuit television as standard and satellite equipment which allows passengers to send a text to find out exactly when the next bus is due – the latter innovation having been pioneered by trentbarton two years ago, and now being installed on buses across Britain.
