PRESS RELEASE (03 December 2008)

5,000 Christmas Shoppers Vroom into Derby on F1

FIVE thousand Christmas shoppers are expected on Derbyshire’s newest bus service during December.

They’re being attracted from the centre and the north of the county into Derby to the Westfield shopping centre and the new Primark on the fast one buses – already dubbed F1.

The success of the direct coach service red arrow to and from Derby and Chesterfield acted as a catalyst for trentbarton introducing the new service during the autumn.

F1 mirrors the red arrow stops between Alfreton and Derby and fits in with the coaches to give a fast half-hourly frequency to Derby throughout the day in addition to the all-stops services.

F1’s brand manager Paul Meighan said: “The Westfield centre and the new Primark are proving to be a big incentive for people to do their Christmas shopping in Derby.

“Now the big rush has begun and thousands of people are taking advantage of the convenience of the bus over the car with a quick service and no need to queue for a parking space.”
