| Ilkeston's £1 million new buses hit the streets |

THE first buses in a £1 million investment in public transport between Ilkeston, Long Eaton and Sawley are to hit the streets.
The trent barton bus company is putting six brand new, state of the art buses on to its my15 service from Sunday 8 March.
They will be the most comfortable buses ever seen in the area. Each has a designer exterior and interior, with double-glazing and air conditioning. They all come with leather seats, creating an environment that would normally be associated with a high street coffee shop. As the buses are larger than the current fleet, they have more seats, more knee-room and much needed extra space for buggies.
It is part of an overall £6 million investment by the locally owned, independent operator in new buses during 2009 and comes despite the economic downturn.
Sarah Taylor, marketing manager at trent barton, said: “Although, like most businesses, we are being adversely affected by the current economic downturn we are not prepared to compromise on the quality and value that our customers tell us they want.
“We expect a tough trading year in 2009, but our continuing investments in the fleet and service quality means that we will offer an ever-better alternative to the car.”
The new look for the buses on the my15 service was produced by Britain’s top bus design company.
“Buses are no different from shops and we want to match the standards of retailers, so we have tried to incorporate some of the sought-after ambience and atmosphere of a coffee shop,” said designer Ray Stenning, of Best Impressions.
*During the road closure at Trowell between mid March and August, my15 buses will run via Stanton Road, Quarry Hill through to Moorbridge Lane where the normal route will be picked up at Pastures Road. Customers travelling from Trowell on to the my15 route can catch rainbow 2 and connect with my15 in Ilkeston town centre or on Stanton Road - through tickets will be available at no extra cost.
